Has anyone looked at these?

There is a big discrepency on what they calculate vs what any machine I use at the Gym calculates.

I always type over it with that the Gyms computers say.

Eliptical for example. I can burn about 500 Calories in 40 minutes based on my age/weight. MFP has it up need 900-1000

just be consistent and use the same source each time.
then monitor your weight and adjust intake accordingly.

MFP AND many machines are incorrect

Calories burned depends upon several factors. "Some of them" ......height, weight, gender, age and exertion level.

MFP cannot know your exertion level ..... this factor depends upon your fitness level. Unless you are synced to the machine at the gym AND it is constantly measuring your heart rate .... the machine at the gym is "guesstimating" also ......

Just be consistant .... if you start gaining weight .... drop the number of exercise calories you are inputing. A heart rate monitor (HRM) with a chest strap is pretty good for measuring calorie burns.

http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc I use this for the most part, and compare it with MFP. I ignore the machines because they always give me an abnormally high amount.
