How does the "Friend" thing work?

Hello all,

I joined MFP today and I posted about being a newbie and looking for support. I have received 14 friend requests already! My question is how does the friend thing work? Do they see my posts? Do we have a "group" that I am supposed to check in with? I have used message boards before and I will see the same folks posting and they are sort of your friend. I use Facebook and am very familiar with posting and the friend thing but looking for info on how MFP handles friend stuff and support.

  • pretty much like facebook. you accept the friend requests and then they can see your wall, what you post, and even your diary if you keep it open. like facebook, there are privacy settings you can set to your liking.

When you have friends they can see your news feed and profile. As for forum posts, they are listed in your recent activity which are listed in between each post on your new feed on your profile. No, there is no group you have to check into. You can also message your friends in private by sending them messages. You can also set privacy setting for your food diary as well. Other than that, all you have to do is support each other, be nice, and lose weight

    Have fun!!!

Your friend's activities and commentary (what they write on their "wall") will show up on your wall or your home tab (wherever you view your newsfeed). Depending on your friends, you may get continual feeds or entertaining comments, or you may only get posts on their mfp activities (doing exercise, lost weight, completed diary, etc.)

Feel free to add comments to things that appear on your newsfeed-your friends will (probably) comment when your stuff shows up on their newsfeed. Your newsfeed is where you find your "friends" group. Stuff posted there may or may not be public depending on your settings.
