Walk or run on treadmill?

Would running at 7.0 with a 1% incline burn more calories than a brisk walk at 6.7 & 4% incline?
I prefer to walk as I'm not too fit & like to feel the muscles in my legs/glutes working, but today I was next to someone who looked like they were jogging relatively fast but it was only at 7kph

if you're walking at 6.7 at a 4% incline you walk faster than i run. the fastest i've gone on a treadmill is 6.4 and that's for only 1.5 minutes.0

Having calculated that both speeds are around 4mph I would say that the 4% incline @ 6.7kph would likely burn more calories. Was the person next to you possibly doing 7mph rather than kph as that would be a reasonably fast run?0

I would think that calories burned would be similar, but I'm no expert. I use the treadmill all the time, and since I hate to run, I never go faster than 4mph. (I push the incline up anywhere from 7-12.) At 4mph, I could either walk briskly or jog; sometimes I jog for a bit, because my trainer keeps insisting that once I start running, I'll love it. So far, he's wrong. So I just keep the incline up high enough for my heart rate to get up to my target range. I'm also a klutz, and walking feels safer than running to me.0

Thank you, I will stick to the brisk uphill walk, at least for now then. Maybe break into a jog occasionally0
