Greetings and Salutations!

I created this MFP account years and years ago. I entered my weight at set up, and then for some reason decided to go over to FitDay instead. But on New Year's, my sister showed me the app for MFP on her iPad, and I realized this place is a lot more flexible and interactive than FitDay.

So I logged back in here... and found out I'd actually lost 33 pounds since the last time I was here. That was a good motivational start!

I've been bigger and curvy most of my life, but when I got married to my first husband in 2000, I started really packing on the pounds. I'd always hovered around 200-220, but I got all the way up to 295. I saw a picture of myself at my sister's wedding and realized I really needed to change.

This was especially hammered home to me when I started having a LOT of pain in my lower back and my right hip. Went in for an MRI and was told I have a labral tear... which is a tear in the cartilage in the hip socket. It's non-operable right now, so I had therapy to teach me stretches and other exercises to keep the pain in check. Now that I'm not having to be bedridden or on pain killers a lot of the time, I'm trying to start fresh.

I've been on various diets... including Atkin's and NutriSystem. I lost about 50-60 pounds on each of them, but I'd just gain it all back when I stopped.

Over the last 3 years, I've managed to get down from 295 to 245. It's a big change, but I still have quite a ways to go. I realized I need something engaging, interactive, and social to help me out. I need to be around people who know what it's like. I love my current husband, but his metabolism is crazy and he can eat anything and not gain. He'll go walking with me if I drag him out, but I don't have anyone that's really enthusiastic about it with me.

Anyway, I'm hoping I can keep up MFP and make some new friends here. Hello everyone! :)
