Calories Ate/Burnt Confusion

My current calorie intake limit is about 1900 calories. I've been trying to stay within the 1200-1600 calorie limit per day though. I exercise everyday, about 1 hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weight lifting. Today I ate about 1900 calories and did 1 hour cardio, stationary cycling, roughly 600-900 calories burnt. I was wondering if exercise basically counts to eating less that day or are they calories of fat that are already there? How does calorie burning work exactly?
