I was wondering if it would be more beneficial to purchase a nice piece of equipment such as a treadmill or eliptical or get a gym membership? I've had membership's in the past but was never motivated to go. Need some help please! :)

Shoes are cheaper than a treadmill, and you don't have to look at the same wall every day.

I've done both. I will tell you that either way - it's all up to you. You make the decision to work out and when it becomes part of your routine it won't matter whether you do it at home or at a gym. Lots of people have unused gym memberships. Lots of people have treadmills, weights, etc at home that go unused.
  • For me, the gym I go to (at the university) is across town. So I found that having a treadmill at home made it more likely for me to actually do it. Because instead of driving 20 minutes to get to the gym, then only being able to run for a half an hour, I could just go downstairs and actually get a good, long run in. But on the flip side, there's no one at home to keep pushing you during a workout except for yourself. At the gym on the treadmill, sometimes I can push a bit faster when the person next to me pushing too.

Or run to the gym . ..I prefer to ride my bike there and get a good work out in . . but the snow is keeping that from happening. . so I take gym clothes to work and walk the 3 blocks away from the gym . .
