Seeking advice for training for backcountry ski trip

Hi! I'm new to the group & just getting back onto logging info in. Does anyone have any good recommends for a training program for a backcountry trip? I usually hike a 2 +/- miles in for turns and have been out only 3x this year. (Don't do the resorts, only BC). I'm going on a trip in 3 weeks with just under a 5 mile hike in with elevation.

I'm looking for a specific regimen to get more strength & endurance (ski specific) quickly. I'm going with a group, mostly guys and don't want to be the on the 'wolf' picks off :) Suggestions??

Thanks & Peace

This is a really great book for helping to design your own program I highly recommend it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0736076115?ie=UTF8&autorenew=1

It contains information specifically on developing programs for XC, telemark, and Randonee skiing

Unfortunately 3 weeks is really not enough time to get much results.

Off the top of my head I would suggest.
3 days cardio (two of them comfortably hard for 60 minutes, one of them do hill repeats for 30 minutes)

work on strength / conditioning 3 days per week.
Focus on lower body, squats / wall squats are particularly useful for skiing. Here are some other good ideas http://www.motleyhealth.com/fitness/ski-workouts-to-improve-your-skiing-skills

Thanks so much! I'll check that book out too - always helpful. Hopefully I'll get out and get some turns tomorrow as well. :)
