Balancing daily carbs, fat, & protein with calorie goal.

I'm a newbie and trying to take full advantage of the great tools on this site. I'm able to meet my daily calorie and fat goals, but carbs and protein is typically over the recommended goal (for my calorie goal). I feel like I'm calorie counting and very conscious of my fat intake. Do I need to count and track proteins and carbs to be successful with my overall weight loss goal?

I've tried multiple paid programs and want to be successful on my own......with the aid of myFitnessPal. :-)

Thanks in advance for any insight and advice.

Just get your calories under control, worry about the rest later. Also, many people believe that MFP defaults protein (and fiber) too low, so don't worry about going over on that (or "in the red"). As long as your calories are in check, you will lose weight. Don't overwhelm yourself with all of the numbers. get the calories under control, then move on to looking at your macros (which are your carbs, protein, etc.).

I am maintaining now but daily I continue to try and reach my calorie goal, exceed my protein and fiber goals, stay under in carbs, and I don't worry about the fat one way or another. Most of that fats I eat are healthy so I don't sweat the number.

The MFP protein goal is a minimum. You can lose weight eating many different combinations, whether you lose weight the most healthy way and how much of that weight is actually fat partly depends on macros.
