Any Kangaroo eaters?

I was curious to know if those outside of Australia have Roo meat available to them at all, and if so do you use it?

I buy it very regularly. It's tasty, very lean and has a great protein count. It's also quite affordable here. I imagine being an imported meat elsewhere it would be more expensive.

Never had it but I would love to taste it! Is it gamey-tasting?

I had it once in the states but didn't know it. Jack in the Box was serving it in their hamburgers (they got in big trouble for it too) I just happened to eat at one of the restaurants that got caught doing this. I've had it when I was down under a few years back. I thought it was good.

Now I want to try kangaroo meat...off to search the internet to see if I can find some, I needed a meat idea for our chili cookoff at work later this month! (it'd be negative calories since it's from Australia and I'd be eating it in the US right:wink: ?)

I've had it. Seems on par with Ostrich or Buffalo meat, only slightly gamier than Buffalo. I haven't seen it in the US, but ostrich and buffalo are available either online or in specialty stores.

I liked the loin meat, but hated the sausage.

It is off-putting, the thought of consuming something that can't decide whether it wants to gestate its offspring internally or externally.

It is quite gamey, takes very well to Moroccan spice. Or pears

I like to think of it as revenge for the creatures' indecision

I've looked everywhere for Buffalo meat here. Had it once in an South African place and really enjoyed it

Moroccan spice and pears sounds good! I've had Ostrich before, haha. Never had kangaroo! I honestly didn't know people ate kangaroo meat, but you live and learn!

I've had kangaroo in burger form at the Bluebird cafe in Hopland, CA. I thought it was pretty tasty; haven't seen it anywhere else though.

I had this in Bega NSW when I was in Australia 2 years ago. I had it in steak form. It was marinated and we grilled it! delicious with a good red wine. tasted like beef skirt steak only leaner!
