I work 5 12-hour shifts a week. I am in week 2 on my 60- day Insanity journey. for those who have done Insanity, is it counted as aerobic exercise or since it involves body weight, does it count as "weight lifting" as well? will I meet my goal of losing weight (10 pounds) and still build muscle tone? Any feedback is appreciated!

I personal dont do it (too hard for me, lol) but friends do and they log it as circuit training here since its a m ix of both cardio and strength training... best of luck on the program and congrats on your weight loss..0

I use a heart rate monitor and log it manually. If you don't own one I would highly recommend it, as you will get an accurate amount of calories burned. If you can't afford one, I would definitely log it as aerobic.0

I wore a heart rate monitor and created (added) my own with the workout of the day.
Maybe I should get back on Insanity myself.....hmmmmmm!0 -
I guess my question is will I see the benefits of lifting weights with building muscle or am I just losing weight initially due to the intense cardio?0

I didnt lose much weight when I was on it. I lost inches and saw muscle tone.0

did you eat back your exercise calories?0

I worr a HRM but I would put it under circuit training or even running cause it burns that many calories. I'm 4`11 and 120 pounds and burned about 350 in month one and 430-540 in month two. Its a great cardio workout but I missed the weights.0

Yeah, I'm putting it under circuit training. My question is more about the Insanity program itself. I've read a lot of posts about needing to lift weights to really get that toned look and add muscle. will Insanity do that?0

Insanity is almost 100% cardio. If you lose a lot of weight, your muscles will show more ("toned" look), but you won't add much muscle, if any.
I'm on week 2, and am making sure to lift weights along with it, otherwise I'll lose my muscle.0 -
Thanks, guys! That was what I was looking for. Appreciate the feedback.0

I did gain muscle tone with Insanity. The workout is created to build musle tone through body weight strength exercises. It all comes down tohow much muscle you are looking to gain.0
