Hi guys. new to this site. So, me in a nut shell:
Former FAT guy.
Height: 5ft 8in.
Heaviest: 255lbs
1st Goal: 170 lbs (didnt know anything about body-fat percentage)
Current Weight: 180 lbs with (15.3% Body Fat)
New Goal: 10% Body fat = ABS START TO SHOW.
I was in shape, until I've let myself go.
When i tipped the scale at 255lbs. i decided enough is enough.
My first goal was to get back to 170lbs. So i cardio the hell out of my fats.
When i've finally reached that goal, i was still unhappy that i had muffin tops. Thats when i learned about body-fat-percentages. Turns out at 170 lbs, i still had 18% Body fat.
So, my new goal was to GET ABS & get more defined muscles.
They say abs starts to show at 10% body fat.
That is why, now, I'm more concerned about body-fat-percentage that the number on the scale.

Congratulations on an incredible initial transformation, and it's great that you're embarking on getting fitter.
I'm afraid I can't offer much advice (as a newbie myself) but if you want to add me we can help motivate each other0 -
thanks. yup. I will take as much help as i can get in keeping myself on track on getting more fit.0

so presumably you have ditched the cardio in favour of a decent strength training routine?0
-
not entirely. When i was trying to lose weight, I was doing 6hrs of cardio a week.
But now, I've doing about only 3 to 5hrs of cardio a week (depending on how busy i am) and incorporating weight with my routing.
I'm still a noob when it comes to weights, so i just do dumbbells to get some definition on my chest and arms, and have increased my sit-ups to work on my abs.
Cardio is still essential to melt those last remaining fats away.0 -

respectfully, i disagree. to lose the remaining pounds, and keep the lean muscle that you have, a full body strength programme 3 x a week and cardio once a week would be your best bet.
plenty of protein and a small (around 250 cal) deficit so that your body is more likely to burn fat and not muscle is the best way to go.0 -
youre probably right.
I just assume when wrote that I've "ditched" cardio. I thought you meant that if i have stopped doing cardio altogether.
But i've noticed that my body is somewhere between an Endomorph and an Mesomorph. I have no problem gaining muscles in a quick amount of time, but i always have a hard time losing fats. that is why i will always do at least 3hrs of cardio if i want to keep dropping of those pound of fat.0
