Measuring portions help

Hi guys,

I have just bought some measuring spoons with the hope that it will help me with my portion control and ultimately lose weight.
I am right in saying that I should be aiming for 1 cup of protein, 1 to 2 cups of veggies and 1/2 cup of carbs per meal?

Any help would be appreciated :)
