First post and first time with MFP

Hey everyone :) I'm really excited that i started to take my losing weight seriously this time! Im a first time mom and need to lose about 30lbs to be in my comfortable weight. It's been about a year now since i've been overweight for my body type/height. I would love to get feedback (and/or give possitive feedback) and make some new friends on here who understand how imporntant it is to me (us) to lose weight! One of my big problems is that after a while of doing well on my "diet" I get low on motivation than slowly do less and less untill I've given up on it completely. This time I want to make it a lifestyle change, its time already lol
Thanks for reading and if there's any advise or comments you'd like to give please do :)

    thanks mark!
  • Hi, I'm also losing 30lbs. Feel free to add me! I tend to be different - either I'm on a diet or off it (no middle ground!). With motivation, it's really about changing the behaviour and then motivation comes afterwards. It's not easy, but sometimes if you really want to (for example) have one too many cheat meals, or skip a workout, resisting that urge helps to build up inner strength to the point where you eventually feel really good about yourself and actually want to keep going with the weight loss efforts. Hope that makes sense, and good luck!

thanks evelina, its pretty much the same for me "no middle ground" i either work out like crazy for a few weeks and eat healthy, take vitamins or i just slack off and eat anything i want without exercise for months at a time. i need some structure and its difficult to maintain it. my 2 year old daughter needs attention 24/7 she has so much energy so when i get a babysitter i feel like i could spend my free time doing nothing and thats what i need to change- to use my time wisely. i appriciate your wisdom
  • Hi there! Welcome to MFP! I totally know where you're coming from! I've been overweight and chubby most of my whole life and tried to do many diets, workouts and everything in between with some success only to go back to old ways. since joining MFP, I've had some success but am no way to my goal weight. What I love about MFP is the great friends you make on here and the motivation they provide and the motivation that you give to them also! You motivate yourself by motivating them also! It's like a great big positive cycle that works for me and the people who are in the same boat as you. Feel free to add me and anyone else that wants some encouragement!
