Milk Alternatives

I'm looking for an alternative to milk... Something with WAY less sugar, or no sugar at all would be even better.
While I'm at it, if anyone can suggest fruits that are "lower" in sugar that would be great. (if such a thing exists? lol)

I always drink almond milk or soymilk. For almond milk, I generally buy the Whole Foods store brand (365) in unsweetened vanilla. Pretty sure it has less than 1 gram of sugar, if any. Silk Purealmond in Unsweetend vanilla is also pretty good, and only 30 calories per cup! For soymilk, the best-tasting one is Silk, imo. I get the organic unsweetened kind. It's in the green carton- 80 calories per cup and a good source of protein.0

Sugar in milk is lactose, not added sugar (look at the ingredients, which should be MILK). If you are just generally trying to avoid added sugars in your diet, don't worry about milk. If there is some other reason you want to avoid lactose (aka milk sugars) then the other replies have some good ideas.0

Im lactose intolerant so I use Blue Diamond unsweetened almond milk... I like it better than silk almond milk... not as thick.0

I just switched from soy to almond milk, and I am in LOVE. Almond milk is more the same consitency of dairy milk and is delicious. I use unsweetened to cook with or on my cereal/oatmeal, and I use vanilla flavoured in my coffee (which means I don't have to add sugar anymore!).
Edit to say why are you avoiding natural sugar like that in milk and fruit? I don't think any fruit is really low in sugar...0 -
My boyfriend has Crohn's and milk makes him very unhappy, so we make our own soymilk- it's super easy and you can control how much cinnamon/sugar/vanilla/whatever go into it, or even how thick you want it! I order raw soybeans in bulk online (the bulk bins at the store in town only have roasted soy beans which aren't nearly as versitile!) and just soak and blend them. It's worth the money you save, I think1

I always end up going over on my sugar intake (as logged here on mfp). I have had a helluva time with junk food or anything sweet in the past and I'm trying to get away from that.
So, I'm trying to keep to my daily sugar intake and yet always end up going over.
I've also heard that our body can't tell the difference between refined sugars and other sugars. I keep reading mixed things about it all so figure since I have poor control over my sweet tooth I may as well just limit my sugar intake all together.0 -
Unless you are diabetic you really don't need to worry about natural sugars. Sugar doesn't make you fat, fat doesn't make you fat, eating too much makes you fat. As long as you stay in your budget eat what you like.0

So if I'm going over on my daily sugars (with mainly sugar from fruit etc), but am still under my calorie limit, I shouldn't be worrying about it?
Well,
Thanks, lol. It's ridiculous all the conflicting messages/information I've found online.0
