Finally found an exercise that makes me high!!

I have never before found an exercise or activity that gave me that "high" that people say you get from exercise. I felt a multitude of emotions and sensations but never anything positive, it was always pain, boredom, frustration etc.
That is until I woke up one day last month and decided to buy a swim membership at my local pool. I committed to the membership before even trying it out as a form of exercise.
I'm hooked!! I get up at 5.50am every morning (7.30am at weekends as the pool opens later) and head to the pool for 6.15am opening.
Each and every morning brings a feeling of success and a rush of serotonin that lasts all day. I push myself to extremes until I am puffing and panting and can barely move my limbs through the water. I'm doing 1km each and every day and it's taking me less and less time - this morning it was 32 minutes.
Try something new people, you never know what might happen!!

Glad to hear it! I actually begun to feel this way after I started strength training & belly dance (on two different sides of the spectrum, I know  ) Now you can use your passion as something that keeps you healthy, while still being fun. Happy New Year & never stop swimming!0

That's brilliant! good for you. For me its running, I'm addicted. It makes all the difference when you find something you enjoy rather than something you have to force yourself to do.0

used to swim in highschool. Always felt euphoric after practice. Didn't know to describe it as a 'high' until i started getting high in college lol.
I get a runners high after pretty much anything that gets my heart rate way up.
1 km is pretty long swim, good for you!0 -
I'll have to try it! I still haven't found an exercise that gives me a high yet. I have achieved a runner's okay-I-guess-this-isn't-the-worst-thing-ever feeling, but that's about as euphoric as it's gotten.0
