Low Carb with "cheat" periods.. It's working!!

I have been on low carb for almost four months now and have lost nearly 30lbs. I have not been as strict as I usually am on low carb and have had a "cheat" meal every week or two. I decided to eat this way because of all the research I had done with people saying changing up what you eat is actually helpful for weight loss. Plus, I am going to be eating this way for the rest of my life and I know that being able to eat what I want a few times a month is going to keep me happy and healthy.
I just wanted to share how well this has worked for me.
Over Christmas, I went with my husband to visit his family out of province. I knew very well that I would not be sticking to plan and made the decision ahead of time. I figured I would gain weight, obviously, but I actually am very happy with my weight loss at this point and wanted to slow down the weight loss (let my skin catch up with the loss). I was off plan for well over a week and when I got back on the scale I had expected to gain upwards of 10lbs. I didn't eat terribly by most peoples standards but definitely had carby meals full of calories.
Well...
I came back home and was only 1lb more then when I had left!
And the day after that weigh in I was back to my pre-Christmas Week weight. I never expected to be at the same weight after that indulgent week (heck I even had chinese food and Wendys!!) so I am just very pleased.
I am now going back to strict low carb for a few weeks but will once again work in the "cheat" meals a few times a month.
(P.S I don't like the word CHEAT as it is not a cheat. It is just eating off plan. Cheat makes it sound like it is something to feel guilty about which it doesnt have to be!!)
