Where to start?

I'm 5ft 3 109lbs and I have fat. I want to be 105lbs but my fat won't be gone. So, forget weight loss, I need to tone up. My calorie goal is 1200, but I obviously need to start weight training (which I do none of at the moment). The problem is, at my gym the weights are downstairs and the cardio is upstairs and I'm too anxious to go downstairs with all the men and some of the people I know and it will just be really embarrassing.

Also, what do I lift? How much do I lift? What do I eat?

I literally have no idea where to start. Advice?

    I'd like to know too. I've just ordered New Rules of Weight Lifting For Women, but don't know if I have the chutzpah to join a gym full of geezers!
