I started off doing wonderful....i mean I was so motivated and excited to get in shape and eat right. Then things began to happen and i lost focus. With my kids and household there is never any time for me. I figured that this...this right here could be mine. It feels great to make the healthier choices, to sweat after a great workout. Even the aches tend to bring pleasure from moving those long forgetten places...lol! Now I am back where I started...and I am starting to get discouraged. Any advice on self motivation, fitting workouts in a busy schedule...hell making ANY progress:-(

Motivation is something you really have to work out within yourself, in my opinion anyway. Mine has always been intrinsic (mostly anyway, I doubt anyone's motivation could be purely intrinsic). It comes down to a matter of wanting the change (and whatever discomfort comes along with it) more than you want things to remain the same. Just gotta prioritize it.

just try to get into a routine..it takes time to lose weight and develop good and new habits..and break old bad habits. That is just life. I also try to enjoy the process and look at it as a challenge. What I do is try to focus on other positive goals in my life like work, home, and hobbies to improve overall..so not all my energy is poured into losing weight. I don't want it to be my life.

Stick with it..and don't get down on yourself. Time is going to pass anyway..you might as well use it to your advantage.

Schedule your workouts like appointments, go to classes at the gym if that helps. Those appointments only move (note move not cancelled) if it's something that has to be on that day like the birthday of one of your children. Many busy people find working out early in the day is easiest, before excuses and reasons can kick in, even getting up super early to train.

Plan now how you are going to deal with all the other things that get in your way. Your health is a priority because without that your family won't have you, if others are being difficult sometimes you just have to quietly say your time is scheduled but you will talk later, put on your gym shoes and leave the house fast. Use a slow cooker/ crock pot, bulk cook meals to save time or have others help you.

Also recognise some people like to be needed so much they keep themselves busier than they need to, some don't really like delegating/ are control freaks so won't ask for help or accept it. Are you doing more than your share of cooking, cleaning and other household tasks? If so prepare a rota. Learn to distinguish between important and urgent and balance both, scheduled workouts are actually important and urgent.

You just need to make it a health issue (which, of course, it is) and that shoves it to a higher priority (much higher than keeping an immaculate house, for example). You need to simplify wherever you can--like is it really necessary for each of your children to have more than one lesson per week---or any at all? (My daughter was a slacker on practicing for her music lessons, so I stopped them.) Carving out time for you and your priorities will often take a back seat to the priorities of others in the family, But it shouldn't--especially where your health (mental and physical) are concerned. There's an old saying: "When Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." (Of course, the follow-up is: "If Papa ain't happy, ain't nobody cares.")

Keep telling yourself that ANY exercise is better than none, even 2 minutes. You may have to give your family word that you need time to workout a few days a week.

Oh, even eating what MFP says for your goal can get the weight off, though slowly.

Just keep telling yourself No Excuses. It sounds cliche but if you start to buy into it then things will fall into place.

Oh I so hear you. I feel SO GOOD after I exercise, but finding the time, finding the motivation......Kids, household, work - when is there time for me? If I want it that bad I'll make the time. Even just little things with the kids. My son wanted to shoot hoops at the Y, so I went and walked the track for 45 minutes (we just joined in November, but I hadn't gone yet). I realized that's time wasted driving him to and fro, I just need to go and stay!
