Eating out?? How do you calculate?

Hi ... I just joined and plan on taking this very seriously... however I have one "event" tomorrow that will involve eating out at a Japanese steakhouse... hibachi style. I can order wisely but do not know how to calculate calories? I can get shrimp instead of steak and extra veggies.... don't eat the rice.... clear broth and tiny salad... But who knows what sauces they put on it... It's cooked in batches and divided up between 8 people... so no special orders. Any suggestions on how to journal this event ??

I go with the philosophy, do your best but don't stress over it. When i'm home, cooking, which is 90+% of the time, i log everything as perfectly as possible. When i'm going out someplace, or eating at somebody else's place, i just do best guesses. I'll search for something similar, usually something from some other restaurant that somebody has already entered will serve as a substitute. It may be wildly inaccurate, but if i suspect that could be the case, i'll generally have eaten lighter in preparation. I'll usually throw in a note as well. It always seems to balance itself out somehow.0

If it's a popular restaurant, check their website. They may have calculated the nutritional value for you already.0

I'm not going to stress about it... just wondering how to journal it. It'll only be day 2 so no worries....! Thankx!
Just checked their website... nothing but the menu and directions.... but good idea though!
Getting really serious on Sunday though..!0 -
Eating out is a reward for losing weight for me, so I don't worry about it.
You could probably find out the ingredients and portions of what you want and figure it out on your own.0
