Sources of non-meat protein/iron

Hello all,

I'm after some suggestions for non-meat protein and iron sources. I'd prefer products that are not soy based or very processed as they don't seem to agree with my body. I am on a dr prescribed iron supplement due to anemia, and I find because I'm not a huge fan of most meats, I am going without any protein most days.

Have you heard of quinoa? It's kind of like a grain, you can use it in place of rice in a lot of dishes. It's basically flavorless, so you can do it for breakfast, lunch, dinner. I like it as breakfast with some splenda brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinammon, and almond milk. It's INCREDIBLY high in protein, fiber, and other vitamins (maybe even iron). Check into that :-)

Protein: any kind of bean, chickpeas, quinoa, grains
Iron: spinach, other dark leafy greens, beans, quinoa

I am curious what you are eating since you say you have no protein intake...are you only drinking water or?
  • No, no, I just meant to substantial protein intake, like I'm not eating specific protein containing foods, though I do get some from dairy etc. My protein intake for my last fully tracked day was 75, which is not enough
