I used to not eat veggies, but have come a ways and now eat a salad a day or two. I still don't think I'm getting In enough veggies and would like to incorporate Greens+ in my diet, but I'm just not sure how. How do you mix it? What's a good smoothie recipe in which I could use it in and not really taste it? I've tried doing a shot of it, but that stuff is disgusting! Suggestions appreciated

I don't like eating vegetables. vegetables make up fibre and vitamins in your diet. both can be supplemented with a multivitamin and some fibre supplement such as psyllium husk.0

I am trying a product from the company "It Works" called "Greens" . It has an orange flavor to it so it doesn't taste terrible. I just mix it with a small amount of water and shoot it like a shot.0

Try the other colors of veg, they generally are tastier imo.0

Ooh yeah. Like onion, red peppers, green peppers and garlic all thrown in a skillet together with chicken.0 -

Now I'm hungry damnit. *searches for salsa and sour cream*0 -
I haven't found a good smoothie to blend it in yet, most of the smoothies I do are fruity, but I do mix the greens with about two shots of pomegranate juice and it seems to take the edge off. Way better than mixing with water, I can't stand that.
I've heard that the more you drink greens, the alkalinity of your body/mouth will change, making it taste better as time goes on. I don't know if there's any truth to that, but I thought it was interesting.0 -
Greens can be blended into smoothies--I think if you're trying to mask the flavor and taste, make sure you put in some good fruits (i.e. blueberries) that also masks the color. You really won't taste the greens. Try starting with baby spinach, one of the milder greens out there.
Try making Kale chips--kale leaves sprayed with a bit of oil, a little sea salt, parmesan cheese, etc. (recipes can be found via Googling); bake until crisp, they're a great snack.
My husband never liked cooked greens, he recalls his mother cooking them until they were a wad of limp, faded, sad goo. I cook them until they're barely soft, in either flavored or regular olive oil, sometimes even bacon, and I add things like capers, garlic, pinyon nuts, red pepper flakes...and now he loves them. So in the summer when greens are plentiful, I cook them alot on request. Yum.
You can also add some greens to regular salad--especially baby spinach and a few others.
If you really can't get past them, try adding a tablespoon of liquid Chlorophyll (found in health food stores) to your protein smoothie or anything, really. Chlorophyll is one of the reasons the greens are so healthy for you.
You don't have to incorporate greens into your diet if you don't want to; people can live without greens. But they are good if prepared correctly, and there are supplements out there that get you close to some of the nutrients.0 -
I hear ya on the Greens+. I've been on again/off again for years with it, just because I don't overly enjoy it. However I do find the line that has protein AND greens together isn't as bad. I think it's called transform+. It's Vanilla flavoured, so mix it with coconut water (not the stuff in the can, but the box i.e. Coconut Dream). Add a little pineapple and it tastes like Pina Colada. I noticed you're Canadian, so if you're at a Real Canadian Supercentre or Loblaws, you can usually find the boxed coconut milk in the same section, and it goes on sale every once in a while, too.0

Salad is not the easiest way to increase your veggies, an 80g (UK size) serving of fresh leaves is a MASSIVE piled plateful whereas 80g of broccoli or carrots is really quite modest. Bear in mind you need to be eating the full rainbow of colours not just greens. Try soups, smoothies, curry, hidden veg in pasta sauce and chilli con carne.
Try frozen mixed berry smoothies, the flavour is strong enough to easily cover veggies like green beans, spinach, pumpkin. I don't find that many other fruits are. Add banana or avocado for a creamy texture.0 -

I'd say the same as others just eat veggies !!! incorporate different things into your diet so instead of using mixed greens for your salad try using kale instead...
If you already bought the stuff I would say mix it fruits is all and hope your don't taste it to much I do blueberry and strawberry (100grams of each) + 1 scope whey I could see it being masked in that mix ...0 -
Minestrone soup is a great way to add just a little of the greens. Just add in the spinach right at the end. Or if you like more texture,
try kale.
try it with stir fry, omelets with any kind of peppers, garlic, onion
If you are cooking collard greens or similar type of greens, they will need to cook for at least 30 mins.
for a lowfat. version, I like to cook mine in chicken broth.
try asian or cajun flavors.
how do you feel about hummus? it is a dip made from chick peas/garbonzo beans (they are the same, just different name)
many easy recipes online. you can also sub. in other beans if you don't like that kind. I suggest roasted garlic or roasted red pepper flavors.
use is as a dip, on a sandwich or wrap.
you can also count legumes as a veg or a protein.
my son hates lettuce. he would rather eat just about anything else, just not any kind of leaf. spinach, kale, greens.
he has tried them all, and just doesn't like it. I'm convinced it is just not his thing. maybe as an adult he will like it.
maybe not. I just focus on other veggies and fruits most of the time.0
