Hi, I was wondering if anyone has managed to lose a Mummy tummy pooch? I am trying to lose weight in the hope that the pooch will decrease but I am wondering if I need targeted exercise (anyone know which? Sit ups?). Or whether after having children that pooch isn't ever going away (without surgery)? If anyone has ever achieved i would love some advice. So far my weight loss has made no pooch change and hence I am starting to wonder. Thank you.

It's totally possible.. You just need to lose the excess fat from the tummy area and then tone up the muscle underneath. The only way to get rid of fat is by eating a calorie restricted diet - you can't spot-reduce fat (or choose which area of your body the fat comes off). As for the toning up, I highly recommend purchasing a fitness DVD like Jillian Michaels' 6 Week Six-Pack (don't worry you don't actually need to do the whole thing if you don't want a six-pack but it will definitely tone your tummy up) or No More Trouble Zones. I actually swear by her, I love her.0

thats the trouble with being a woman and being in the 40+ group.. (im with you) genetics and hormones work against us. it is really really hard and only commitment to a clean diet, hard work and time and persistance will get you there. it might be a good idea to see a trained physio to see if you are doing ab exercises correctly - most dont, and to make sure you have no separation from your pregnancies. doing an exercise the wrong way or working a separated muscle can do more harm then good. abs are made in the gym, found in the kitchen good luck0
