How do I use whey protein as a meal replacement?!

I bought whey protein, and I'm trying to lose weight so I was wondering which meal I should replace with a protein smoothie, and if I should drink one BEFORE or AFTER a workout (I workout around 4 pm so after would be dinner time) thanks!! oh and if you have any whey protein smoothie diets that'd be really helpful ! :)

    If you are trying to gain muscle the best time to add it is within 30 minutes of a hard workout. It depends upon the makeup of the powder you bought? Is it a suppliment or replacement in value of calories, protein, and carb load.
