PLEASE NO "EWW GROSS SHE LOOKS LIKE A MAN" COMMENTS. If you can't express your opinion on this topic with without infantile name-calling, please do not reply.

The ad features Serbian-American bodybuilder and fitness model Jelena Abbou.
Personally, I think it's fantastic to see the commercialized acceptance of women who have worked very hard to accomplish such incredible physiques. It may not be everyone's ideal, but neither is the more common "model" figure that is featured on nearly every single magazine cover.
If we can begin to embrace women larger than a size 10 in ads and magazines, why can't we start embracing strong, fit, muscular women?
Discuss.
P.S. This is what Jelena looks like in the off season:

I bring nothing more to the discussion table than this:
HOT.
EDIT: just realized my comment isn't acceptable under the terms of the OP.0 -
Just sayin...MAC rocks. They used a 90 year old woman recently too. Celebrating all types of beauty. I think its great.0

Love! She is feminine and strong and beautiful!!!0

I don't know about her dress.
But really, it's an awesome ad. Good for them.0 -
Wow love it.0

As you said, it may not be everyone's ideal, but neither is what is currently gracing the covers of most fashion magazines. I think it's great.0

What a cool pic. I love the iridescent coloring they did on her skin. Really makes the muscles even more beautiful. I personally would love to look like that!0

I agree on both points.
I love that they didn't downplay her musculature. In fact, they did the exact opposite.I don't know about her dress.

LOL on the dress. I like it! I'm pretty sure they corseted her midsection to bring more attention to her upper body too.0 -

I don't like the dress....it's not the fit I don't like...it's the shiny glossy texture actually....
but she is gorgeous...and owning it...
fantastic ad.0 -

Yeah, that's my problem with it, and the ruffle.0 -

I think the dress works extremely well for the photograph though. It compliments her skin with similar texture and carries the light well throughout the frame. I wouldn't wear it though0 -

Don't mind me. I'm just being a pain in the *kitten*.0 -

Actually as we've discussed on my wall, I DO agree with you on that. The dress works well with the picture...the gloss compliments her skin and if anything accentuates her form, musculature etc.
so for all intents and purposes....it works...
why is it that when we see an ad for something we automatically assess if "WE" would wear it instead of approaching it from a purely aesthetic beauty standpoint?0 -

Because ads are designed to make us WANT to buy a product, and when we see an advertisement, that's the mentality we go to when viewing it. Likewise, you wouldn't look at a Monet painting as an ad for art canvas.0 -
I think its great, girls need to see that its ok to be strong, and that it doesn't make them any less beautiful. In fact in my mind she is more beautiful because of her strength and her confidence.0

She looks amazing in both photos.0

I saw this ad the other day and just love it!!0
-
She looks great!! I wish more people would embrace this version of beauty!0
-
She is really pretty in her off season picture but the one in the dress just looks bad.
Lets go all beastmode in a dress with dark makeup and try and make it look pretty. I dont think it works. It does just look manly.0 -
She is very feminine and beautiful! ❤this ad!0

I love her body! I think it is great that MAC does things like this. Beauty is in everyone, everyone is different and that's beautiful. As for the dress, I think it is smoking! If I had the body I would wear that *kitten* every night hahah0

A year ago (or so), Covergirl did an ad with boxer Mary Spencer. It was equally gorgeous and strong. I love the way cosmetics companies are redefining and expanding what we think is beautiful.0
-
I read an article about the ad, she was 2 or 3 months out from competition.
I love the ad, love how she looks but am bot a fan of the dress. But no idea what I'd prefer her in.0 -
She is definitely my "goal look" and I love MAC makeup, it's all I wear now.0
-
I like it. I think it's beautiful and cool. I also just look at fashion photos and ads as art and not for whether or not I would wear the clothing, as that is usually not the intention (unless it is an advertisement for clothing). But, I do think the dress might look better without the ruffle. I don't mind the rubbery, shiny look. Although it does kind of look like a trash bag, which is kind of interesting.0

She's absolutely stunning. I'm going to be a contrarian and say that I like the dress, if I had her body I would totally wear it.0
