Create Your Mantra

I work in a library and on Friday a book about helping girls deal with mean kids and bullies came across my desk. I was flipping through the book and came across a page about teaching you children to have a mantra to say to themselves when they are dealing with difficult situations. An example they gave was "boss it." I think this is genius and think anyone could have their own mantra for dealing with any kind of situation. My vices are eating and shopping and for 2013 I am going to loose weight and control my shopping. My mantra is "you are in control" I have this on a sticky note wrapped around my debit card for when I'm tempted to shop or eat fast food and I say it to myself when I feel like I'm loosing control. I wanted to share because while it seems so simple, it has been really helpful for me.

    *Love* this. :heart: Great idea!. I guess if I have to make a mantra for this point in my life it would have to be "Don't feed the bears". I'm terrified of bears. Not entirely sure why. I've never seen a real bear that was not a lifer at the zoo. I don't fiddle fart around the forest :flowerforyou: and I don't live in bear country...that I know of. :huh: That cruise-line commercial with the flashback of the bear rockin' the couple's car slays me :huh:
    If I feed the negative self talk and low self esteem... it'll keep getting more aggressive :angry: and sniffing around for more :grumble: and get more powerful. Love the reminder on your debit card. Might have to try that to help me to remember to protect my picnic basket :wink:
