Goals for 2012 - Almost Complete

Just because we turned the calendar to 2013 does not mean that I was defeated in my quest to meet my goals. I had three of them. Two are complete and one is on the schedule to be completed.

A little background, I re-joined a gym (American Family Fitness) in February 2012 after a long hiatus from the fitness world. A personal trainer there, Shane, challenged me to eat better, be more active and always do my best. It was a tough year, but lost over 10 pounds, but more importantly I feel better than I have in a long time.

One of my goals was to feel better...check. Another was to have clothes fit better...check. The last ,and biggest long-shot, was to become a certified fitness instructor...what?! Oh, and complete that task in under one year...OK, that's just crazy talk. I've played sports my whole life, coached adult league softball and now kids soccer for years. I've been at the gym consistently for almost a year now. How does one make that jump to becoming a certified instructor?

Well it is 11 months after joining...and I am scheduled for a Schwinn Fitness Sport Certification later this month. How did I do it? A few things, myfitnesspal was certainly a huge part of it. Diet (what you eat, how much and when you eat it) is the secret ingredient to weight-loss and fitness. Shane taught me that. I also love tracking things (personal finances, work results, miles on my bike, etc.). Support and encouragement from my family, new friends at AmFam, work associates and people in the community. All of whom are becoming my friends on myfitnesspal now!

Good luck to you all who have recently joined...don't give up. For all of you still on this site, keep up the good work and always do your best!
