Protein

I have a question and not sure if this is where or how to ask. I joined about a month ago and I tend to go over my target protein most of the time. I go over between 1-8. Is this really bad, should I be worried. I am new at this and not sure if to much protein is really bad. Thanks

    Great question! i was thinking the same because i'm over too. I have been consistently losing weight so i'm thinking its okay

    Don't sweat it! MFP sets protein really low by default.

    Out of all the things you could go over, protein is the one you WANT to go over. I never understand why MFP tracks the protein and makes it RED if you go over? (Perhaps it depends on where you get your protein from?)

    A lot of people adjust the default macro values that MFP provides, and protein's pretty good for making you feel full, so -- like folks have already said -- nothing to worry about.

    I changed my own macro targets to 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat... Could be my imagination, but hovering around those targets makes for a lot less hunger & a lot more energy.
  • If you are doing strength training and things, you want your protein to be higher. I always always go over protein.

    Changed my intake goals to 60/20/20 all protien... i never exeed that value now.

    Change your macro percentages to whatever you like. MFP's default settings are dumb.

    My lean mass is about 116 lbs, I aim for about 120 grammes of protein per day...too much? Nah ah...I want to keep my muscle and build some more!

    Look at protein as a minimum (same with fiber if you track that)

  • I always go over mine by double. i like to have loads of protein and it works for me.
