New blender....smoothie recipes?

I received a blender for Christmas and I love smoothies. Today I used non-fat greek yogurt, ice, a banana, a kiwi, a mango, and a package of raspberries. This was enough for both my boyfriend and I to have a large glass of. Tomorrow, I plan on using non-fat greek yogurt, apple, bananas and blackberries.

I'm interested in adding veggies, but I'm not sure if you can do that in a blender? Any recipes would be appreciated!

Add spinach!! I do it all the time in my blender and you can't even taste it, yet you get all the nutrient and fiber benefits that spinach has to offer. Enjoy!! :)

hey i have jsut become obessed with smoothies also! actually i really only make protein shakes as i dont really do fruit - and the protein shakes are amazing.

    I usually take:

    2 scoops of protein powder
    LOTS OF ICE
    water
a little unsweetened almond milk or knifer nonfat milk/yogurt
a scoop of frozen keipher yogurt or vegan soft serve

    simple but fabulous!

Awesome! I figured that adding most things would work, and spinach is delicious/good for you.
  • Spinach is an awesome veggie to add because its virtually flavorless. Kale is great too but has a hint of flavor. Avocados are great and make any smoothie more creamy.

Spinach or green beans both disappear in terms of taste when blended with berries, I have also used avocado and canned pumpkin. Apples and bananas are heavy on sugar and not really the most nutritious, you might be best having those on different days. Go for the bright and dark coloured stuff. Also peanut butter, protein powder, cocoa powder and cottage cheese all work well - not all at the same time! - I didn't really get on with coconut milk thought it was a waste of fats.

They way I add any veggie I want is by using baby food. The veggie ones are just that vegetable pureed.

Well, my favorite smoothie is one I make almost daily. It's grapefruit, ginger and kale. I absolutely love it, but it is pretty bitter. So if you're used to a sweeter taste, it may not be for you. I feel SO good when I drink it.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have read that the taste of cabbage, like spinach, disappears into a smoothie. There are others, but I can't remember them all. I think zucchini is one?

I add whatever I have in my fridge to experiment with flavors. I'm trying a black cherry smoothie next. YUM. But omg don't put too much mustard green (if you add greens that is) because it will come out spicy and will give you heartburn, lol.

Ouch...haha. I always have random veggies in my fridge, currently I have half a red pepper and some broccoli...not sure if either of those would mix well?
