College

Hey guys I am leaving for college this week and am nervous about gaining the so called "freshman 15." I love working out and will be teaching two fitness classes a week while at school, but I am nervous that I will not work out as much as I do at home aside from that.

I am also worried that I will eat a lot more. Do any college students, or recent graduates have advice to keep calories in check and how to avoid eating all the unhealthy things that we have access to?

  • I just graduated from college 6 months ago and I was worried about gaining weight (surprisingly enough, I gained it after I graduated) . I kept in shape by making sure to take advantage of the school gym and I also bought a bike so I would ride to class and the grocery store. Since I rode my bike I was limited in what I bought so I made sure to only get the essentials and I didn't splurge too much on the extra sugary treats.

Just make sure to keep active! You can do it!!

    I gained 30lbs the first 3-4 months.

Don't snack on things. Don't take it even if people offer it. Tell them you're watching what you eat. Try to prep your meals every weekend. Plan. PLAN! Try to make the right choice. If your college offers healthy alternatives choose those healthier ones even if they're not the best.

Good luck. I know it can be a *****. =/
