calories????

On my intake is at 1200. I'm 5`2. And I know it doesn't make a difference but I never can reach 1200. I can get close to 1000, but then I feel like my chest is heavier, I can hardly breath. Is this normal? But when I stay way (and I mean 400-500cal.) I feel fine. All my life I was told if your not hungry then don't eat. Well I can go all day without eating until supper, and feel fine. (No I'm not starving myself, I'm just not hungry) I have to fourse myself to eat. I've been like this all my life, could someone help me?

You are starving yourself. And no, it isn't normal. I would see a professional.

No. You need to eat. And if you set it to 1200 personally, undo your custom adjustment, and eat back all of your workout calories. If you need some help getting the calories, start making protein shakes after each workout with milk or a milk substitute. But you cannot be health on a diet like what you describe.

Eat more calorie dense foods, 1200 is not hard at all to reach. Full fat yogurts, cheese, eggs, lean meats, peanut butter, avocado, nuts, oils, all add up quickly and aren't going to make you feel overly full. I'm not sure how long you've been committed to losing weight but eating 800 or less a day is going to come back to bite you in the *kitten* sooner rather than later.

Definitely eat more. I only eat 1350 at the beginning of maintenance, but I'm small and older with a BMR of 1050. When I was losing and eating 1200, I sautéed asparagus in butter, ate trail mix, almonds, stir-fried in olive oil and otherwise managed to pack a lot of nutrition into those calories. I was never hungry, but never stuffed either. It is very important to look at your nutrients at the end of the day and make sure they are approaching 100%. There is no way they could be on >800 calories.

I know now that by not eating its making me gain weight but when I eat more I just feel fully stuffed. Can't move and outa breath so full. And I don't know what I can do to prevent me from feeling like that. I want to loss weight but I don't want to be uncomfortable too. Like right now I'm at 993 its 11:26pm here. Its really to late to eat anything else, but I'm also too stuff to eat too.

Like others have said....need more calories and nutrient foods. You will not lose weight off of 1200 calories and that's making you sick from your symptoms of not breathing and chest stuff. That's starvation. I was 237 at start...and have been up to 1700 calories and such...lost 73 lbs...and speaking from experience gained 8 lbs back by either not eating enough or not the right foods.

Your diary isn't even open to show people what your eating. T hat would help everyone~!

Please don't take this the wrong way, but how did you put on weight if you are incapable of eating more than 1000 cals per day?

Two slices of bread, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, and two tablespoons of jelly is about 400-500 calories.

Are you really saying you couldn't eat three peanut butter sandwiches in 24 hours?

It sounds like food is giving you an anxiety attack. You should see a medical professional and describe thar heavy chest feeling.

No offense but are you really saying not eating made you over 200 lbs? That is just not right and I really don't mean to be rude but sounds like you are in denial. So if you really are eating under 1000 cals a day maybe you are eating very unhealthy and I think working out and eating healthier could help you lose weight. Try to eat more even if you don't want to and get your metabolism back on track if it has slowed down due to not eating.

Sorry to be so blunt, but your diet is terrible. I can see no fresh food, everything is processed and packed with sugar. Try swapping out this crap for some real food and see if that makes a difference.

If you are not eating because it causes you physical discomfort, that is dangerous and you need to see a doctor. You may have a food intolerance or your mental enxiety about gaining wieght might be manifesting itself as physical symptoms. This site is great for advise (if you know how to sort through some occasional bs lol) but you are starving your body. If you have truly gained weight eating less that 1000 calories a day, that makes it doubly concerning because it means your metabolism is in serious trouble.

It is in your best interest to see a doctor. He or she may be able to find the cause of your discomfort, cure it, and then get you into a healthy lifestyle as quickly as possible

Very much this. I can understand the craving for the occasional grilled cheese but girl, get some fresh stuff in your diet. Also? Corn doesnt count as a vegetable.

One of my MFP friends told me they got anxiety/panic attacks from not eating correctly so this might be the cause of your heavy feeling in your chest and breathing issue. I use to have them long ago and it felt like what you discribed.

Probably best to talk to a doctor about what you've told us.

This can definitely happen. If you don't eat enough, you metabolism goes to sh**. I had that problem...just mentally didn't realize I wasn't eating enough food and had to get testing done to figure it out. Not saying it's the same reason, but could be the reason why.

Add in high calorie foods like nuts, nut butters, olives, avocados, healthy oils (olive, coconut, or grapeseed). Try things like eggs, greek yogurt, fresh fruit, etc.

Were you always this way? If so how did you become overweight? I would see a doctor. Maybe there is some digestive issue going on that could be treated.

And I don't care what anyone says, no one gets to over 200lbs by eating 1000 calories or less a day.

You are eating mostly "crap" from a quick look at your diary. This being said, it is easy to misjudge the calorie count of some of these foods. Maybe you are eating more calories than you think and they are mostly empty calories that are not fueling your body. I would say if a doctor says you are healthy and there are no issues then you need to clean up your food choices, measure very honestly and accurately, eat 5 smaller meals a day instead of 3 big ones, and water lots of it (looks like you are trying to do this).

Good luck! Study others diaries for ideas! Knowledge is the key!
