Seriuosly? Some of you ladies are eating way too little. I'm 5'2" and my weight ranges between 150-154 and have been maintaining my weight since early last year on anywhere between 2000 (no workout, sedentary weekend day) to 2400-2800 on workdays (Medical Assistant at a busy clinic, lots of walking) depending on whether I exercise or not. Anyone who thinks they're maintaining on 1500-1700 cals has a damaged metabolism I'm sure......

Someone maintaining 110 lb or 120 lb vs your 154 lb will need less calories then you.. No need to get judgmental. If I ate like you I would also gain up to your weight which is not where I want to be.

This thread makes me feel so much better.

I'm 5'10, 195 and can't seem to eat below 2000 without feeling famished.

I was probably maintaining this weight at 2500-3000 per day. I have no clue what I ate which is why MFP has been a real eye opener. I joined this site thinking I needed to eat 1200 to lose weight. Screw that! Now my goal is to eat 1700 per day because I want to be 143 lbs.

No it does not sound high. Try to log for three weeks and see if that level works. Adjust up or down by 200 cals and see if you see any changes.

Question - if you maintain around 1500-2000 at your ideal weight, does that mean you can eat 1500-2000 while still losing weight? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

I know that during my slow recomp phases I lose slowly eating between 1700 - 2300 gross calories (active person here).

Its a guess bu i think that when I start my maintenance I will be able to eat around the 2000 mark, most likely between 2000-2300 gross calories! If I have a rest day then I might have to eat a little less, say 1900.

I've plugged my numbers into a few calculators, and I maintain somewhere around 1700 calories. I'm 5'1", currently at 109 lbs. I take MRT classes 3 times a week, and I'll occasionally squeeze in 15 minutes of brisk walking or jogging on the treadmill, usually to prep myself for a heavy night out of eating if I feel like treating myself.

Well, age has a lot to do with BMR. I'm 57 and my BMR is 1050. At 5'1" and 104 pounds, I can maintain at about 1300-1400 calories. I have not damaged my metabolism. I've just gotten older.

With my workout routine, I maintain on 3000 daily. Lift 3x per week for an hour and 2 days of low / medium cardo for 30 - 60 minutes. Otherwise a rather sedentary job. I'm 6'3 250 lbs
