Lower back ache- am I doing it wrong?

I ran through some practice lifts so hubby could correct my form if needed before I work out without him. I did 1x5 squats and over head press @ 35 lbs and barbell rows @ 65 and deadlifts @ 85. He said my form is fine and I'm not sore today except in my back, lowish around where the love handles are. It's definitely muscle soreness and not an injury but now I'm concerned that I'm doing something wrong. Is this an area these lifts should work? Is it okay that I'm sore there and not anywhere else? Thanks for any input!

your lower back is worked especially on deadlifts, but works heavily as a stabilizer for the barbell rows and overhead press too I wouldn't be concerned if I felt it after a routine like that

I'm not an expert, but I can offer my experience :) Not one of those exercises have EVER caused my lower back to be sore. Even when I increase my weight. I'm very paranoid about a lower back injury so I pay attention to how it feels. Jayche may know more and have more experience though.

I understand about the stabilization muscle concept (which is why I only do free weights), and it could be you are just using muscles you haven't used in a while and not that you are doing it wrong, I'm not sure. But just my experience, especially with deadlifts, has been not to have lower back soreness. Upper back yes, lower no. Good luck!
