Hungry...

Anyone else ever have those days where you just feel insatiably hungry, no matter what you do? Drinking water, eating protein, eating fibre, going for a walk, drinking tea... Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy! I'm not under eating - I almost always eat back my calories from exercising, or most of them at least. So I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe it's just PMS...

    I sniff grapefruit oil on days like this - it's a slight appetite suppresant apparently. Always seems to work for me when I can't seem to fill my tummy!

    I do occasionally get one of those days when I am definitely truly hungry. On those occasions I simply eat more. I figure since I am ACTUALLY hungry (it is important that you're recognising it as real hunger) then my metabolism has probably kicked up a bit.

    It hasn't hurt me at all

    I always get like that during PMS. I never really noticed until I started logging my food on MFP. I just eat a little more. I just make sure that I don't go over my TDEE, even if I blow my deficit for a day or two.
  • How much sugar do you consume in proportion to everything else? Thats including all the fruit you eat, all the sugar you put in your tea/coffee. I know that the more my body consumes sugar, the hungrier I am. It takes a lot for me to digest it properly and I have to constantly remind myself to cut down of fruit I eat as I catch myself stuffing my face with oranges and apples and strawberries. They fill me up but not for too long and 30 mins later I am starving even more!

    I actually don't eat refined sugar at all, and try to limit my fruits to max three a day. Yesterday, I had more than that, though, so maybe that's affecting my spike in appetite.

    Same, and I drink 2-3 litres a day AND I eat ALOT 1600-1900, doesn't seem to make a difference though:/

    && glad to hear I'm not the only one who has days like this! I'll just try to stick it out. Has gotten a little better, after eating a whole carton of cottage cheese. lol.

    I posted a similar thread last week! I just realised that I had PMS last week.
    It is probably emotional hunger, not the real one... My help is 1 tbs of peanut butter or 1 boiled egg or the latest favourite - a mug of hot cocoa - 1 tbs cocoa powder + 1 tsp sugar or sweetener + 50ml milk = apparently cocoa powder is a residue from pressing cocoa butter, so virtually fat-free and only about 20kcal / tbs. Satisfies my sweet tooth.

    But sometimes the "hunger" just stays no matter what I eat, so I just have to squeeze my mouth and this period shall pass... it is always worst about 2-3pm.
  • Is there any food in particular that you're craving (salt, sugar, carbs, etc.)? If you are, then it might be your body telling you that you need to eat more of that category. The human body is very clever like that. If it's just hunger for general food then just up your diet a little on those days. Many people believe varying calorie intake to be good for dieting anyway.     This usually happens if I'm bored. If I over eat it'll just be harder to stick to my plan the next day so normally I try to go to the gym, go for a walk or bike ride, or play video games, anything to entertain me.

    We all have days like this. Definitely best to just listen to your body and just eat. Don't let it be an excuse to start overdoing it every day though!

    I've never heard of this....I've heard of people sniffing eucalyptus...and some other weird things...but this is a new one to add to the list :D
