Need help with IPOD Nano pedometer

Hi,

I recently got an IPOD Nano and it has a pedometer included. I am having trouble with keeping it going...when I walk with it and check to see how much I have done it seems to reset it. I do have the daily total but it would be nice to be able to see a particular hike in total.

Also, how accurate are these? And, are we supposed to measure our average stride and multiply that times the number of steps recorded for distance?

Thanks,

John

It resets when you hit the middle button - try touching the wheel part instead. I had the same problem you did when I first started using mine.

I have found that if I make a point of keeping my weight set to the right amount it is fairly accurate. I wore mine to the gym and walked for 50 minutes on the treadmill - the iPod gave me 10 more calories burned than the treadmill did.
  • Thank you, that helped. It is working well now for me.

There is an accessory that you can buy for your ipod called the Nike+. It is a sensor you put into your shoe that "talks" to your ipod. It records your distance, speed, etc. You calibrate it so it is pretty accurate. It also will tell you when you have hit certain distances and will give you motivational mesages at the end of your walk/run. There is also a website where you can track your progress and enter challenges with other people. It's a pretty cool accessory. You don't even really have to have the Nike shoes you can buy a holder for the sensor that will allow you to attach it to your shoelaces for any style of shoe.

I also have a Garmin GPS watch which I adore.
