Psychiatrists/Therapists

Long story short: my daughter will be 17 in April. This past year and a half she has been through mental and emotional abuse from a "friend" who has created at least 25 online personalities that have befriended her. All of these personalities he created had drama and some "died". He admitted what he had done but I don't think he quite realizes the trauma he has inflicted upon her. I'm currently looking for a psychologist/therapist to help her through the trauma and depression this has caused her. My question is has anyone else had a child that needed professional help to cope with overwhelming depression and inability to cope with the horrendous emotions? If anyone has experienced this, is there anything in particular I should look for in a therapist for her? A lot of her emotions are grief, as these personalities have been outed and also going through the grief when a couple "died". I've done everything as a mom I can to help her through it, but she has agreed that she needs professional help to come to terms with what was done to her. Any helpful ideas/experiences would be appreciated.

Start with her school. They should be able to point you in the right direction...also try your local church..I know ours provides mental help services.

    Good luck..

Join your local NAMI--they have support groups in most places and you can probably find people who can help. www.nami.org

Wow, can I just say that I hope the other kid's parents are looking into therapy for their son as well. How awful.

Yes. and he's bi-polar. Not that it excuses what he's done.
I looked into the mental health services offered by my region/city and have found there is also a walk in centre for counselling so I'm going to talk to her about going in there tomorrow. My concern is the love/hate relationship her and this boy have....they can't seem to let go of each other.
