Protein shake...breakfast alternative.

I am finding myself pretty busy and hate fad shakes or meal replacements (plus want to keep cost low) but what I am looking for is to make a low calorie, high protein shake that I can substitute when I am busy.
When I was not really watching what I was eating I just ate whatever my kids ate. So french toast, pancakes....etc. Anything I could get my hands on but now I am making them their stuff (and leaving it alone) and just don't have time to always make myself something so I will "Just grab something later" and then it is usually noon and time for lunch. I would rather not just skip over breakfast and it would like something that is quick but doesn't hog my calories for the day.
Also it would not be every day as I do love my breakfast
EDITED: Or would a smootie with a mix of fruit/vegetables be better?
Juicing?

breakfast is my fav meal of the day, but when I need something quick and on the go I usually go with a cup of Almond Milk, Dyna Whey Protein (i use chocolate peanut butter) and add a banana in there and put it in the blender.
the protein powder has 30 grams of protein, and everything comes up to around 275 calories (depending on the size of the banana)0 -
Thanks...are all the whey protein's the same? Where do you purchase yours?0

Smoothies are great, juicing is just basically concentrating the sugar and removing the fibre. I use a lot of frozen berries - full of antioxidants and flavour, light on sugar and calories. I tend to limit bananas because there is quite a bit of sugar: use things like basic whey powder, cottage cheese, canned pumpkin, frozen spinach, frozen green beans, avocado, no added anything peanut butter, reduced fat cocoa powder.
You can also find healthier French toast and pancake recipes online which might suit the whole family better?0
