Can a Type 1 Diabetic Lose Weight?

I just need a little info or support here. I have really changed my game this year especially in working out and even though I feel stronger, I am not dropping the weight (belly fat) that I want. Nothing is showing up in inches either. I feel tighter and stronger, but where are the numbers to show my body is changing. Is my metabolism so screwed up that I just don't work. Nothing I've ever done to lose weight seems to make a difference. Am I missing something or what? I keep thinking maybe it just takes my body a lot longer to make the metabolic shift, but 6+ weeks, surely I should see weight loss happening. My five pounds lost was the first week, nothing since!!! I've read all the articles about gaining muscle (I know that) and muscle holding water after workouts, but surely that would have worked itself out by now. Help. Can I lose weight like a normal person?

In all honesty you should talk to your doctor about this - but from what I understand it will take longer to drop the weight but it can be done just you will need more patience. You said you are feeling firmer / stronger so something is going on there. Give it more time and the next visit to your doctor have a nice discussion. Just don't give up!! And keep up what you are doing!!

You certainly can! I have a friend who is on a site with a tread just like this, I'll ask him where and message you the link. He's lost an incredible amount of weight! Push yourself as far as you feel comfortable. Don't let diabetes take over your world! I see that it's not, so it probably is better to say Keep Moving!!! You're going in the right direction and you can do this! I'm a big fan of google and success stories! search away and see what you find. I too suggest taking what you're doing and what you have found to further question your doc! Keep up the great work, you'll get there!
