Will CLA really help with belly fat/weight loss?

I don't usually put much stock in stuff like this, but I recently read about conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) supplements. Some studies have shown them to be beneficial for fat loss, particularly belly fat. Supposedly they are found largely in meat and dairy from grass-fed ruminants (cattle, kangaroo, etc) and are much lower in grain-fed cattle such as we consume these days (and most of us, me included, don't eat as much beef as people used to either). Seems reasonable. Besides, it is also suspected to fight cancer and inflammation.

Anyway, I went and bought a bottle. Worth a shot I guess. I'll continue with diet and exercise of course - I'm still waiting for a pill that will allow me to lose weight while eating lots of ice cream and fried chicken.

What do you think?

I tried CLA for several months and saw almost no change in bell fat. The weight loss was right on par for the previous months weight loss, so I honestly feel that CLA did not contribute to my weight loss.

But then you didn't get cancer, so it must have worked! Just like my rock that protects from tigers.
  • lol on the rock. haha. um CLA effects some people differently. i have heard people i consider reliable swear by and and other that i also think are reliable say it's a waste. So it really depends on if you want to spend the money to try it.

You post the original question and then snark back when someone gave you a legitimate answer?
