hi calorie, hi nutrition snacks for those struggling to eat

I didn't even realize this was so up there until I had one of my "snack packs" today.

1 serving granola pumpkin seed & flax cereal (Aldi - don't remember the brand) (1/2 cup?)
1 serving dried apricots (4)
1 serving dried papaya (4 pieces, I think?)
1 serving dried mixed berries (1/4 cup)

(serving sizes are on all the packages)

put all of it in baggies and you really will get about 18 servings, 355 cals per serving. Feel free to look at my diary/foods and see the rest of the nutrition info. This one helped put me way over the top today!j

Anyone else have any for those of us that aren't really big eaters but still need to net cals & nutrition?

    I think I saw something almost exactly like this on runners world! They mixed it with some yogurt and.... something else? lol. Either way, it looks awesome! I need it for those days when I run, I'm already eating once an hour, I can't shovel much more in, hahaha.

    Oh yeah - get some vanilla yogurt and put in some fruit (dried OR fresh) and granola and that is SUPER yummy! Dunno how filling I'd call it or if it's that high in cals but it makes an awesome "desert". I used to try to get my kids to eat the yogurt parfaits I'd make - but they don't like yogurt. They eat broccoli & brussel sprouts - don't think I'll complain about yogurt! lol

    bottom - berries (mixed, strawberry, blueberry, whatever you like!), layer vanilla or lemon yogurt nice & thick over the top, then layer on a sliced banana and then another layer of yogurt. On the top and third yogurt layer, spring on a TON of granola, garnish with your fruits and voila ~ a very decorative, cool and tasty treat that is incredibly healthy! But I know I'm not the only one that's thought of this so it didn't really seem worth posting. Very pretty if you have parfait glasses, too. Do not pre-mix yogurt & granola tho... gets soggy. Ew.

    I make smoothies a lot for Breakfast. They are quick, good and satisfying. You can slim them down or bulk them up depending on what you are looking for. For a good higher calorie one I put in 1/3 cup each of frozen strawberries and blueberries, 1 banana, about 5-6 oz. of yogurt, 1 cup skim milk and 1 scoop of Slim Fast powder and about 1 tsp Sun Crystals to sweeten it up a little and blend it up. It makes you feel like you are getting a milkshake, but a healthy one. You can also change it up a little based on the flavor of Slim Fast you use. If I'm not working out and I know I'll be getting enough protein elsewhere during the day, I'll drop out the Slim Fast if I want to slim it down. You can also slim down the yogurt a little bit. If you do it like my example it is about 415 calories, only 4 grams of fat and 15 grams of protein. I really like them on the go because you can just throw it in a cup and off you go and if you use frozen fruit, you don't need any ice.
