Heart Rate Question: How high is too high??

I don't have a problem getting to my target heart rate (which 154 at the high end) and staying there through my workout, but I often find myself reaching 165-175 when I push myself. Is this too high? Is it bad to go that high? (My resting heart rate is around 75) I don't stop the workout to slow my heart rate unless I feel dizzy or nauseated which doesn't happen often, but I want to be healthier, not cause other issues. Thanks!

I had read somewhere that your maximum heart rate is equal to 220 - your age in years.
So, for me, at 30, my maximum heart rate would be 190.
From the max heart rate is where the calculations come in to determine your low and high end, multiplying your max heart rate by .5 and .750 -
If you don't have any pre-existing heart conditions there is no such thing as too high.
However, different exercise intensities target different training adaptations. So, you have to know the purpose of a particular training session to determine what intensity is optimal.
If the only purpose is to burn calories for weight loss it doesn't really matter.0
