Multiple person meals w/different needs

Hello,
My boyfriend and I are both trying to get in shape, we live together so we exercise together and I cook the majority of our meals. Here's the problem. I'm supposed to have a calorie intake of around 1,200. He's a much bigger guy than me, in height and in weight, and his calorie intake is way higher than mine (almost double if I remember right).

Any tips for cooking meals that work for the both of us? He does eat bigger portions, but with money being tight, that isn't always an option when it comes to pricey things like meat.
