Fit Bit Goal Question

Another FB question (tried searching but don't see it asked already).
Is 2500 calories a good daily "burn" goal? (to be clear - not food calories eaten but the amount I aim to burn in a day)
I assume I'm correct in thinking 2500 total calories burnt - 1500 calories eaten = 1000 daily deficit.
Can anyone confirm for this math challenged member...

I don't have a fitbit yet, but 2500 calories sounds like an incredible amount to burn in a day to me. IMHO.0

the burn goal on fitbit is somewhat arbitrary. The exception is if your calorie goal is less than your BMR. In that case, you need to hit at least your burn goal in order to keep your nutritional needs in tact as well as meeting your deficit goal.
If you are wanting specific help, post your BMR, TDEE, & weekly weight loss goal and I can help you sort it out.0 -
I have already burnt 1300 today and haven't worked out yet (it's 1:30 on the east coast). I think that's what's great about this....it pushes you to work out so you can achieve that goal.
Plus, that means I get to eat more if I do!0 -

Thanks!
BMR: 1707
TDEE: 2394 (assuming no exercising on that day) 2,987 (assuming 1 hour moderate exercise)
Aiming to lose up to 2 lbs a week if possible. At least initially while I have so much to lose.0 -
OK, so to lose 2 lbs/wk (pretty ambitious, btw) you need a 1000 calorie deficit per day. Since the difference between your BMR and TDEE is only 687 calories, you need an extra 313 calories per day, so I would set your burn goal at 2707 calories as a minimum just to make sure you are getting proper nutrition.0

Yes, nothing gives you ambition like having to wear a bathing suit with friends in Aruba in 9 months!
Thanks!!0
