Getting back into the realm of things!!

Alrighty! its January 2013 and I need to lose this weight. No more messing around. Im going to turn 28 this year and I want to do it with a bang!! :)
Please help me and support me - I also went through my first unsuccessful IVF and I think the weight and being unhealthy has soo much to do with it. I need people who can help push me to the finish line. I'm aiming to lose 40 lbs for now. Once I get there I'll set a new goal and start up again. I think having a bigger goal to achieve makes me want to run and hide somewhere!

Any ideas on how much I should be eating per day. the guided program on this has me at 1200 calories per day which I think is less because if you compare me to people on the Biggest Loser they eat over 1300-1500 calories per day to help aid the weight loss. Can anyone help me out there?
