Small group training sessions?

Hi
The gym I go to has small group training sessions (6 people, 1 trainer, 2x week for 6 weeks) Has anyone had any experience with this sort of training. I would be interested to hear of any benefits and drawbacks of something like this as I cannot afford a PT, so this seems then next best option.
I've been going to the gym 6x a week for the past 3 months so I feel I am ready to try something new.
