Anything in the mustard family: yellow, brown, spicy. Also, anything in the pickle family--the spicier the better. Problem is the sodium. But everything in moderation, right?

I'm really loving the Sabra hummus, since it adds some extra protein to my meal. I REALLY like spicy mustard though...I have the original Jack Daniel's No. 7 in my fridge now. It's not too spicy, but it has awesome flavor. :)

I spread smashed avocado on mine. It's a PERFECT sub for mayo on a turkey/chicken sandwich.

Do you like the taste of caesar dressing? You can mix 1tbs lite mayo with 1tsp lemon juice, a splash of worcestershire sauce , salt and pepper, and 1tbs shredded parm. cheese and spread that on an Arnold sandwich thin with some romaine lettuce and turkey or chicken. Mmmm so good, it tastes like a caesar salad except with out all the calories! I actually already have it in the food data base under Kd's Homemade turkey caesar sandwich.

spicy mustard (boar's head is the yummiest to me), miracle whip, and I used to put butter on everything, but don't anymore. Set me up with a little mustard & miracle whip & a slice of white cheese, and I'm a happy kid!
Oh and must not forget the classic PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY!

Vegennaise, horseradish sauce (the real stuff, not the creamy stuff), or coarse mustard. Yum :)

Though Hummus is an awesome spread, it usually doesn't stick around long enough in our apartment to be used that way, lol.

I am always making sauces. Usually too hot. Drives my wife crazy.

Over the weekend, I BBQ'd some garlic cloves and Jalapenos.

I took 3 red BBQ's Jalapenos, 3 green BBQ's Jalapenos, 1 fresh Habanero, about 1/4 cup of BBQ'd garlic clove, 1/4 cup Olive oil and 1 cup Light Mayo and threw it in the blender.

My wife came downstairs last night with a sandwich. Told me she put the sauce I made on it and it was great.

    Raspberry Jalapeno Sauce
    • 1 Jar Raspberry Jam
    • 1 Bottle any brand BBQ Sauce
    • 1 Small Jar Beaver's Hot Jalapeno Mustard
    • Chopped Jalapenos (+ or - depending on your taste)
    • 1/8 cup Teriyaki Sauce
    • Tablespoon Sesame Oil
    • Toasted Sesame seeds

Don't blend it, just dice everything real fine and combine. Goes great on Pork and chicken.

    Peach Habanera BBQ Sauce
    • 1 Jar Peach Jam
    • 1 Small Can Peaches
    • 1 Bottle any brand BBQ Sauce
    • 1 Small Jar Habanera Mustard
    • 6 Habanera Chilies
    • 1/8 cup Teriyaki Sauce
    • 2 Medium Yellow Onions
    • 2 Tbsn Crushed Garlic
    • 2 Tbsn Fresh Grated Ginger
Chop and sweat Onions in Olive Oil in large Pot.
Add Can Peaches and simmer about 15 minutes. Whisk and break up peaches.
Add remaining ingredients. Simmer. Remove from heat.

Add the Habaneras last. Chop and add a couple at a time. You can always add more, but it’s hard to remove them.

6 Habaneras seems perfect for the general masses. A few more could probably be added for the true aficionados.

    Goes great on anything.

I like to get the good fats from avocado into my wraps. When I scoop out part of the avocado, I crush it and use it as sort of a spread on a whole wheat tortilla when I make a turkey and cucumber wrap. So delicious!!
  • I've found that Frank's Red Hot Cayenne Pepper Sauce is an amazing condiment for weight loss. It seems to add a zing to anything I add it to and it has almost no caloric impact. Additionally, I've read a few articles that have found connections between eating spicy foods and raising your metabolism while you digest them (haven't put too much weight into that...no pun intended).

One thing I've recently discovered is spicy tuna fish sandwiches. What I do is use one can of tuna and instead of two table spoons of mayo I use one tablespoon of Smart Balance Omega 3 Mayo and a ton of Frank's Hot Sauce. The hot sauce replacing the extra mayo gives the tuna fish a moist enough texture, saves tons of calories and fat, and gives a really tasty kick to your plain tuna fish sandwich. I know it sounds weird but I'm telling you to try it first and decide for yourself. I think you will be really surprised.
