NSV Moment

I haven't really shared my story around here yet, it is actually sort of long, but I'll try to be brief. The nickle version is I quit smoking 2.5 years ago, and gained somewhere around 30lbs. Was probably ten over at least before that gain. Sept 2012 I was ready to make a change, and so far I've lost 24lbs.
This past weekend I dug out my work clothes from three years ago and tried them all on, and everything fit!! My wife is an "anti hoarder", so it was a real battle around the house to keep those clothes, so happy I did and that I'm back in them. Hopefully when I hit my target weight they won't be too big.
I wasn't going to share this because frankly the success stories I see around here far surpass my little 24lb victory. Really incredible stories here and everyone continues to blow me away on a regular basis. "well done" do all of you.
Anyway, back in Sept when I was ready to make the change, I tried to get my wife on board. She wasn't ready and all I got were excuses. So, knowing that we need to find our own path in our own time, I started without her. The great thing was that I noticed her eating habits changing just because I was changing. I could tell she was losing weight (or at least inches), but wasn't really sure how much. She didn't take any starting measurements (weight or otherwise). She doesn't like to talk about this stuff, so I don't bring it up, except for the occasional well timed "you look great". I'm sure some of you know, in some cases, even compliments can go wrong.
This morning, as I was making our morning protein drink, she came down and said "hey check this out". She tugged on her belt and said "when we started I was on this belt hole" as she was showing me the last hole on the belt (no, the irony of the statement "when WE started" was not lost on me, but I digress). Then she proceeded "now I am on this hole", and as she said that, she drops the belt down to the last hole on the other end. This was a five hole reduction in her belt line!!!! I figure she has lost at least four or five inches. This was all done with zero exercise too. She has a severely bad knee so it is extremely difficult to find something for her to do that doesn't aggravate that.
I'm so proud of her that I just had to say something. Even though she doesn't come here and none of you know her, just know that you all motivate me to stay focused and what I do is rubbing off on her... so you all have had an indirect impact on someone losing weight.
so, thanks everyone and keep up the good work :flowerforyou:

This is a great story not only because of the weight loss, but it can set an example for those of use whose partners/friends/family/roomates choose not to join us [accept] the choices we are making to get healthy. Most times just living it and walkin' the walk is all they need to change a little here and there. They just have to come over in their own time and in their own way. [If ever...]
Congrats and keep up the good work!0 -
