I would consider myself almost "phobic" of trying new foods, I stick to the same foods I know I like and refuse to try new foods. My current diet, which has been my diet for a number of years now, is potato and bread - I live on chips, roast potatoes, toast, sandwiches, bread butties, etc. I don't know how to get myself out of this rut I've got myself stuck in and was wondering if anyone has any advice or suggestions on how I could broaden my diet? I don't exercise much, so all the carbs that I'm eating don't get burned off, therefore it's become the fat I have on my body now, but I know I can't cut these carbs out of my diet until I try new foods. Help?

    - add one new food a week until you find something you enjoy?
    - go for a walk?

A nutritionist told me to focus on protein and the fats/carbs will take care of themselves. That's been pretty true for me.

Proteins I usually incorporate into my diet:
    yogurt
    light string cheese
chocolite bars (healthsmartfoods.com - I like the cookies/cream, triple chocolate fudge- husband likes cashew caramel)
burger without the bun (or cut the burger in half, and treat it as half a double burger with or without cheese)
    steak
double up on the meat for deli sandwiches

    For what it's worth....
