Post ACL surgery- need encouraging friends!

Hello everyone,

I am not new to MFP, but I am on a new journey, since I had some setbacks on my last journey.

I was very motivated to lose weight in April of last year, and one week into a great start, I tore my ACL (playing rugby). 5 months later, I had lost a little bit of weight again, but had my ACL reconstruction surgery in August, and since then, I have put the weight back on again, and have hit my highest weight yet again.

I am hoping to lose 60 pounds, and change my lifestyle!
I started this weighing 215.0 lbs and hope to weigh 155 lbs.
I am 23, and a graduate student, and would love to have some friends to motivate me, and friends that I could look to for some support and advice...or just anyone that may be going through something similar, or also wants a motivating friend :).

Thanks!!

Good luck! I have a similar story. I lost 45lbs then tore my ACL and both meniscus' (playing roller derby). Two knee surgeries and 19months later I have gained 46lbs and am really ready to get back in shape, to the sport I love and jut gets healthy again. My goal is to lose 81lbs!

Mind if I friend you? Even though I am just starting the journey I would love to help support you and offer motivation during your journey.

Hi girls! I've been in same situation for a while now. I had my first knee surgery at 17 years old (right meniscus) and then at 18 had my right ACL replaced and then again at 19, had my left ACL replaced. My love for volleyball beat me up pretty good. Anyways, I'm now 22 and still deal with not wanting to be active just because of knee pain, especially when it's cold outside. I've been with MFP for a while now and am about half way to my goal. The last half will be the hardest for me! I would love to have more friends that understand the problems of remaining active post surgery, no matter how long it's been. At my heaviest, I was 225 because of my weight gain.. currently at 196-198 depending on the day.
