question about Fiber One brownies

Hi. Recently I've seen several members saying how good the Fiber One Brownies are. I was wondering, do they make you gassy? The reason I'm asking is that I absolutely LOVE the Fiber One Oats and Chocolate bars, however, my husband has "banned" me from getting any more of them because of how extremely gassy I get several hours later. Thanks in advance for your help!

LOl. Well, one or two has no effect on my kid who LOVES them but when she snacks on many, well, THAT is a different story. I also don't seem to have adverse effects from one while my wife can't even handle one.

So, I guess my advice is to buy a box and try it. Start with eating ONE with your other normal foods and see what happens.

Yes neither my husband nor I can eat them without the same result.

My husband and I don't have gas after eating them. Only happens to certain people I guess.

Most Fiber One products contain a large amount of chicory root extract which has that gassy effect on a lot of people. It can also work as a really good laxative so if you find you're sensitive to it then it's best to avoid Fiber One products.

Hmmm, well, maybe I'll try ONE of them sometime, and see what happens.
I get pretty awful about 6 hours after eating my morning oatmeal too. Years ago when I was on MFP before knee problems and surgery, members would write that your body would eventually get used to the extra fiber you were giving it. BUT, in my case anyway, NOPE, never got used to it, and probably never will! LOL.
    Thanks for all the replies!

Yep. So not worth the calories. I finally ate my last one today - it was in tiny pieces it's been smashed at the bottom of my snack bag for so long, because they just aren't flavorful. But I was hungry and wanted to get rid of it so I ate it and won't be buying another box.

I haven't noticed the gas problem like w/the bars.

Ok, so two of you said they didn't taste good, so I guess I won't bother buying them. I DO plan on buying a box of the Oats and Chocolate bars soon though. My hubby is going on a long trip for 5 or 6 days, so I can eat em and fart all I want to, and he won't be here to complain!!! LOL

I found them way too sweet. My husband didn't like them. Can't say I noticed gas but I had read about the chicory issue before.

    I agree. They're foul.

And the Kellog's Fiber Plus bars taste better than Fiber One bars.

Never heard of those before. Do THEY make people gassy?

Yeah youre probably going to get the same results with the brownies. I found that after I had regularly upped my fiber intake the gassy-ness went down. So perhaps for you, push your way through (pun not intended) until your body gets used to it.

But thats just what worked for me. I LOVE fiber one products :P
