Will I lose weight eating this?

Hey guys! So I'm 5'8 150 pounds and i am trying to lose some weight as well as get fit and toned, i'm a picky eater but i want some input please tell me what you guys think! can i lose weight with what i'm eating? i eat similar things daily.
This is what i ate today:
one cup of plain oatmeal
one banana
one tablespoon of penaut butter
one tablespoon of dark chocolate chips
1/3 cup of plain greek yogurt
10 whole grain pretzels
29 reduced fat cheez its
2 slices of land o lakes white american cheese
1 spinach and fruit smoothie
haven't eaten dinner yet but i plan on eating a sugar free apple sauce and carrots and hummus.
PLEASE PROVIDE YOUR INPUT i feel like i'm not getting anywhere and i'm beating myself up (not literally) about what i'm eating, im new to this and need help!
do you guys eat the calories you gain from the gym??
by the way this is around 1000 calories, i usually eat between 1,000 and 1,400 calories a day and burn about 620 per day at the gym

your meals look like my snack foods... bottom line is are you reaching slight calorie deficit and are you exercising. You could lose weight eating cookies so long as you at them at a deficit of what your body burned for a long enough period of time.0

Hello! Honestly it doesn't matter much what you eat as long as you are eating few enough calories to have a deficit. If you've entered all your body info to the site, I assume it's told you how many calories to consume daily to lose weight, so just make sure you stay at/below that number and you will lose!0

Well I'd starve to death eating that. There's not even an actual meal in there - all snack foods. But if you feel satisfied and are getting your minimum calories that MFP set for you then okay.

To lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you take in. It really doesn't matter what you eat for that goal. The more your deficit, the more loss, though you may not be fit and healthy. Without knowing anything else about you, it is impossible to say if you will lose. What does the program give you for a day's calories?
If you want to lose and be healthy, you have to eat healthy foods and exercise. I'd starve on that diet, it isn't enough food for me. I need more protein and healthy fats than your diet seems to give, and I eat more vegetables, dairy and whole grains.
I do eat the calories I earn with exercise, though I estimate low so probably don't eat them all.0 -
Well if you want to get 'fit and toned' first of all eat - too low calories will make you cheat and then become one vicious cycle of not eating - overeating. But during this whole time ,if you have the will to not overeat then you have the chance to be an anorexic. Believe me just eat around your recommended calories.
Oh forgot about that - and make sure that you have -3500 / -7000 (max) weekly calorie deficiency (-500 / -1000 calories daily)

you're pretty young (I am too, of course) and don't have a lot of weight to lose. So, no, to me that seems like too little food and you risk losing LBM.0

Honestly, I think you need to eat more, I can't imagine that's many calories! Is that an every day thing or just part of a day?

That doesn't sound satiating at all and boring to boot. Throw in a few meals in there, you'll feel better. It also meets very few nutritional needs - that's going to make you cranky. You're going to get links to BMR stuff, check those out. It's sciency stuff that lots of the people here use and it helps.0

If you eat too few calories, your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow (you probably see this message when you close out your day). Eventually, you'll lose weight, but it will go slower than if you keep your daily intake within a healthy range. You also risk not getting enough vitamins and nutrients for your body to function properly.

Does it matter if you go over your fat limit? Not by much just by 15 would you lose weight as long as its under your calorie goal?0 -
Not enough food - you are 18 and you are setting yourself up to stuff your metabolism and be a lifetime yo-yo dieter.
And if you want to tone, you need more protein and good fats.0 -

Yes, you probably will lose weight eating like that. However that is not enough food to have good energy levels, ingest proper nutrient levels, and maintain lean muscle mass.
I'm 5'9", 160lbs (150 is my goal). I eat 2000 calories a day to lose body fat and maintain muscle. I also lift weights 2-3 times a week and do cardio 2-3 times a week for about a half hour.0 -
you won't get ' fit and toned' exercising and eating that amount as all you'll do is induce muscle wastage0

Hmmm... In my opinion that diet doesn't sound too great, although I am hoping you mix it up a little through the week?
I would maybe try and cut out all the snack foods that have absolutely no nutritional value to them and swap them for some soup or a salad. They're is a definite lack veg that might be a problem if you eat like that day in and day out. Do you take any vitamin supplements? You should take some if not you need to keep up your vitality or else you will find it very difficult to loose weight! Anyways it would not hurt you at all to add a light and nutritious meal to that list (especially something with vegetables!!)

To echo what others have said, I would swap out the "snack" foods for more wholesome nutritious foods that will keep you full longer and actually benefit your overall health. Your body will thank you!0

I will starve eating that ...Where's the protein? and food? Cause that's all snacks.....Good luck keeping any lean body mass and "toning" on that.....0

You should be losing no more than 1 lb a week at your weight. At your current calorie range, if you account for the exercise that you are getting (and if the burns are accurate), you are netting anywhere from 350-750 calories. That is way too low for your age and size. You may lose weight on it, but you won't "tone", and it could have negative impacts for a very long time afterwards (ask me how I know....).
In addition to needing more calories in general (quite a few more), you really need more protein in there.
If you haven't already, you will want to incorporate weight lifting into your exercise. You will probably be happier with the results you get and how your body will look.
When re-evaluating our habits to make positive changes, it's easy to take things too far. You are in this for life, treat it more as learning how to take care of yourself for the long haul rather than just as a way to lose weight. Good luck, you can totally do this.0 -
You can definitely loose weight this way, but in my opinion, it isn't a very healthy way. I think you would be loosing more muscle than you probably want to. You need to fuel your body and your work outs by eating enough healthy foods. I think most of what you're eating is okay, but I'd recommend adding more protein and upping your calories so that you're consuming at least 1200-1400 and eating back most of your exercise calories.0
